Library Spotlight

Through our unique Personal Story Project, twelve students at The Shelton School (Dallas, TX) have published essays on Teen Health & Wellness. Working together, Library Coordinator Kathy Fester and English Teacher Melissa Harrison ran a program in which students submitted essays on topics ranging from divorce to adoption to dating abuse. In addition to becoming published authors on the site, teen writers also received certificates of achievement and gift cards in recognition of their achievements.

"I am definitely planning to do this submission process to [Teen Health & Wellness] every semester from now on. It's a perfect exercise for my college writing students! And they LOVE saying they are published writers," says Harrison.

Use Harrison's lesson plan to organize a writing program for your teens. Or have them submit their stories directly to our site.
