Expanded Coverage of Financial Literacy & Green Living
Just in time for back to school, Teen Health & Wellness has added new "hot topic" content areas, including financial literacy and green living. New entries cover topical issues such as credit cards, bank accounts, recycling, and fair trade. Updated entries also address issues like the immune system and personal hygiene and offer tips to stay healthy during the upcoming cold and flu season. As teens turn to libraries in even greater numbers for comprehensive, accessible information on these critical topics, Teen Health & Wellness meets this vital community need.
New Teen Health & Wellness customer case studies profile key database customers successfully serving their library communities. The case studies demonstrate how public library partners use the database to support goals of creating healthy communities. They also show how public schools are able to stretch their budgets further in these tough economic times to offer safe, credible, and authoritative information and self-help to students. Here's an excerpt from a case study done with San Diego Unified School District.
"The Teen Health & Wellness content is straightforward and easily digested by teen or parent. We all know students might not have a parent to serve as a resource, or, in many cases, are not comfortable asking personal health questions of adults. Because Teen Health & Wellness is accessible remotely, students can find answers to sensitive and difficult questions 24/7."
⎯Dr. Darlene Bates, Director, Instructional Media Services, San Diego Unified School District, CA
"I've checked out portions of Teen Health & Wellness, and I'm impressed with the thoroughness and the variety of the information offered. The huge glossary will be helpful to adults as well, as it includes a good deal of medical vocabulary, including the names of drug classes and what they are typically used for. The site will make an important addition to our growing list of databases."
⎯Marguerite La Haye, CEO, Prince Township Public Library, Sault Saint Marie, Ontario, Canada
